Hi my name is Jerry Morales. I'd like to welcome you to the Downtown Alamo
School of Music where all lessons are held upstairs in the second floor
studios above the Downtown Alamo Music Center location.
I have been teaching guitar at Alamo Music for the last 7 years, and have
been playing guitar for about 17 years total. I have plenty of experience
when it to the complete beginner or the advanced student. I have also
participated in the past as a judge in AMC's annual Guitar Wars, and wish to
continue this honorary privilege where many of San Antonio's best step up to
compete and been seen.
My lesson schedule is extremely flexible since I also work in the downtown
Alamo Music Center dungeon, aka the Stringed Instrument Repair dept. under
the very talented, wise, and Taylor certified technician, Casey Jones.
Whenever I am not upstairs in a lesson, I can be found in front of my work
bench expanding my knowledge of how the vast universe of guitar mechanics
and construction function in a quest to make unhappy finger tips fall in
love with their favorite fret board all over again. Feel free to share any
questions or concerns about your guitar or the guitar in general and I will
try to the best of my ability and experiences to answer them for you.
I currently play guitar at my church and in the Christian rock band,
Seraphim Calling.
We recorded our first CD at Casey Jones' (amc's guitar tech.) very own
Insulin Studios in the summer of '06 and released the Cd titled "Waiting" in
the spring of the following year. For more information on the band or to
hear some of our recordings, please visit our myspace page at

Comments: My parents bought my 1st guitar at Alamo Music last June. I have
played saxophone since Aug '05 but never guitar. I usually have lessons with
Jerry weekly. I now play lead guitar for my school's jazz band but at home I
enjoy playing rock. Jerry has been a great help for both types of music. He
has shown me many techniques to make playing my songs easier. I always look
forward to my next lesson!

Comments: Jerry is a phenomenal guitar instructor. We took a chance when we
decided to allow our 6 year old to take music lessons. We were not sure that
her motor skills and comprehension would be sufficient, however Jerry has
not only inspired her to love music but has also helped increase her
confidence and determination. -Gina-

Student: Carolyn G.
Age: 62 yrs.
taking lessons since: July '07
Comments: I know it's strange for someone my age to be taking guitar lessons
but it's something I've always wanted to do and I finally decided I'm never
too old to learn. Jerry is a great teacher. He is a very talented musician
and has a lot to offer his students. He is very patient with me and gives a
lot of encouragement and guidance. The lessons are fun and I only wish I had
started earlier (much earlier)!

Comments: I am very pleased with Alamo Music and Jerry Morales. Not only is
he kind, but very patient with young children. Jerry is very dedicated to
his gift of music to allow his talent to be passed on to young and old. I am
very proud to say Jerry is my son's music teacher.

Comments: Jerry is about the best teacher i could have asked for. He is very
patient and a cool chill guy. Lessons fly by quickly and it feels like you
are just jamming out with Jerry rather than practicing and learning. He
knows a lot and he shares this with you, so you just don't learn what's in
the books. Jerry is the best guitar teacher and I would never bother to look
for another. I fully enjoy each lesson.

Comments: I think Jerry is a great guitar teacher. He's very patient. On my
first lesson I kept messing up, but he didn't rush me. He also knows a lot
of great songs like Iron Man or Hey there Dalilah, and if I don't get
something he will explain it. He also has a great sense of humor. He makes
the guitar easy to learn. Sometimes I don't feel like going, but once I go
back home I'm happy I went because I learned something new. So if I was
looking for a guitar teacher, I would pick Jerry.

Comments: Jerry is a great teacher. I like working/learning guitar with
Jerry. If I had another choice of a teacher, I would still pick Jerry even
if it was Slash!

Comments: Jerry is a great instructor. He moves through the lesson at a good
pace, and teaches effectively and quickly. Jerry aslo has a good attitude,
and makes the lesson fun. I would highly recommend taking guitar lessons
from Jerry Morales.

Student: Robert P.
Age of Student: 21
Taking Lessons Since: September '08
Comments: First of all, I recommend taking lessons with any teacher to learn
how to play the guitar versus self learning. Without lessons, it's easy for
students to form bad habits, hindering their guitar potential. It requires a
little bit of discipline, but the results are well worth it.
I started lessons with Jerry with no guitar knowledge, and a fear that I
will be unable to develop meaningful skill. Admittedly, the first couple
months of lessons were difficult, but with Jerry's didactics I was able to
excel.
I can no longer have lessons with Jerry because I am moving from San
Antonio, but after seven months of lessons, I have a firm grasp of guitar
fundamentals. I can probably continue my guitar education on my own.
For learning the guitar, Jerry Morales is a good teacher; he has my
endorsement.
