Meet John Rupert |

|
|
John started teaching guitar at Alamo Music
in 1988. He is originally from Cleveland,OH and graduated from the Berklee
College of Music in Boston MA. He started playing guitar at the age of
seven. "I started taking lessons at a local music store very much like Alamo
Music."
John teaches numerous styles of contemporary
music. He feels that one of his strengths as a teacher is open mindedness. He
appreciates a good song, no matter what the style, and is willing to teach
it to his students. John's teaching incorporates ear training, music theory
and reading music notation. He also likes to teach the creative side of
music, encouraging students who are interested to compose their own music.

Here is what people are saying about John!

My son Cooper has been taking
lessons from John since he was 7 years old.
Many teachers are reluctant to teach kids that young; but John is patient
and helps them have early and frequent success. He provides a great balance
between learning the basics of music and letting them play what they like.
This helps them to stay interested and excited about playing guitar. We
feel so fortunate to have John as Cooper's teacher!

My twelve year old
grandson Aaron. Has taken lessons with John since
January of 2005. One of the things that has impressed me with John as a
teacher, is his ability to adjust to Aaron's needs. As he taught him to
read music, he kept Aaron's interest by letting him try the electric guitar
and also praising him for trying to compose some of his own music. Aaron,
like many other boys of his age, loves the guitar but needs that extra bit
of praise and support, Thank you John for your patience, and your ability
to keep Aaron on track!

When I started
taking lessons with John, I had absolutely no musical
training. I only had a desire to play. John quickly found some common
ground with my musical preferences and had me playing some basic songs
after a few lessons. Since then, John has greatly helped my understanding
of music, theory and technique to the point where I am starting to develop
my own playing style.
John goes far beyond teaching you how to play a song He will also teach the
theory behind the song, so you understand what you are playing and why. In
doing so, John draws on a vast knowledge of musical styles from Blues to
Country to Jazz to Rock, which breaks he breaks down to match your playing
level. So you don't feel overwhelmed.
John's enthusiasm, knowledge and patience are reflected in his teaching
style and are some of the main reasons I have continued my lessons.

Placing our son, Ian
who started lessons at 7 years old w/ John Rupert has
built his confidence level to play the classical acoustic guitar. My
husband and I are amazed by the teaching techniques, John instills in him
not only to play the guitar but the level of reading and understanding
music notes. John has wonderful patient skills and makes the private
sessions fun and enjoyable for our son.

John has been
teaching my 10 year old son guitar lessons for two years. He
is very patient with children and tunes into their personality. He
continually challenges my son with different types of music. My son has
continued to improve in his ability to play guitar and looks forward to his
lesson each week. I would highly recommend him as a guitar teacher and
personally referred him to my friends.

Bailey has always
had a love for music, and was pretending to "rock out" on
guitar at an early age. For her 8th birthday we purchased a guitar at Alamo
Music and got her started in lessons. She loves her teacher John - Who is
very patient as well talented, and she always looks forward to her lesson!
She's been at it for 1 year now and does great.
Everyone at Alamo Music is kind and helpful.
We love it here!

My son began guitar
lessons with John when he was 7 years old. He is now
14. John adapts the lessons to my son's changing interests. He has studied
blues, jazz and country music with John and has been exposed to
flat-picking, finger picking, cross-picking, power chords, improvising,
sight-reading and ear - training. I credit John with being the driving
force which keeps my son excited about guitar.

Mr. John is a good teacher because he
pushes me to do more than I think I
can do. He teaches me the type of music that I want to learn.

My lessons with Mr. Rupert are great
because he's humorous and he teaches
me well.
I like the way he talks to me because it makes me feel like I can do
anything if I'll just try.

| John is an
excellent teacher that is very knowledgeable. He can and will
teach his students to the fullest extent how to play guitar and his

I have been taking guitar lessons from
John for about 2 and a half years now. I am a retired educator, have
been singing a long time, and fooling around with guitars for some
time, but not with much skill. John Rupert has been just what I
needed. He is a great person and teacher. John has encouraged me when
I was discouraged, and laughed with me when we were having fun with
Country, Gospel, Folk, Pop, Blues, or Children's Songs. John is skilled
at his craft and is a wonderful human being. Thank you Alamo Music for
the gift of John Rupert!
Sincerely, Patrick Teicher
