Chadwick started his journey into music at the age of 10 when a close family friend handed him a tape of King Crimson’s 1974 album “Larks Tongue in Aspic”, and by the time he was 11, he was building drum sets and percussion set ups from pieces obtained in second hand shops and music stores. While in middle school, he began drumming with a Black Sabbath/Led Zeppelin cover band with fellow students and gained experience with live performance settings and began to know local club owners. In high school, he broadened his education by taking a music theory class while making a record with local progressive metal band C.O.L. at Melody Ranch recording studio. While playing outside of school, he jumped into the medium of electronic drumming and implementing these electronics to a traditional acoustic kit. Since then, he has played in numerous local acts in San Antonio, recording CDs with local punk/ska band 23 ITP, blues group The Big Nasty Juke Joint Experience and progressive band B. Daydream. After extensive touring, recording and managing his own band, 23 ITP, he opted to go back to college and get a degree in Music Performance with the 10 years of live performance under his belt. During his college tenure, he mastered percussive sight-reading, music theory, world/hand percussion, congas, bongos, timbales, mallet keyboards and timpani. Today, Chadwick is graduating with an Associates Degree in Music from San Antonio College under the study of world-renowned composer and percussionist Alice Gomez. You can find him gigging every weekend with his band Higher Ground or purchase any one of his CD’s at Hogwild Records. He plans to finish school with a Bachelor’s Degree and hopes to inspire others in his teachings and hopes others will find the same passion and love that he has for percussive instrumentation.
