It is a YAMAHA 9 foot Concert Grand Piano, (CFIIIS model) that introduced Alamo Music Center to Claire Huangci. Her concert performance in January 2010 was the perfect introduction. Since then, Claire has won more competitions and has been a featured performer on the new YAMAHA CFX 9 foot piano on concert stages around the world.
Born in Rochester, New York, 20 year old American pianist Claire Huangci astonishes all who hear her perform. Legendary pianist Vladimir Krainev has dubbed her the pianist with “the fastest fingers in the world.” Coming from a family of scientists, Claire received a grand piano for her 6th year birthday. After exploring the instrument herself in the first year, she was featured on FOX news as a child prodigy with the skills of a professional pianist.
In 2003, Claire was accepted by the Curtis Institute and continued her piano studies there for four years. From there, she went on to win the Philadelphia Orchestra Competition and performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Wolfgang Sawalisch, one of dozens of American orchestras she has appeared with.
In April 2006, Claire won the first prize in the 57th Kosciuszko Chopin International Piano Competition in New York City. She then performed in numerous solo recitals and concerto appearances throughout the Unted States. The 2006 Hamamatsu International Piano Competition introduced Claire to the Japanese audiences; she was awarded the Diploma of Outstanding Merit and was the favourite for many spectators.
The 2007 season represented a milestone in Claire’s career. She made her first appearances in Europe with solo performances in Munich (Herkulessaal), Frankfurt, and Paris (Salle Cortot Hall) as well as concert appearances with the National Philharmonique du Maroc, China Philharmonic Orchestra under Maestro Shi Shucheng, and the Suedwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz Orchester.
The 2008-2009 season brought Claire in numerous solo and concerto performances to various venues in France, Germany (Beethovenhaus Bonn), Austria (Konzerthaus Vienna with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and Salzburg Mozarteum) Unted States (Sarasota Asolo Theater and Carnegie Hall among others), Poland, Switzerland, Japan, and China. Recent orchestral performances have enabled her to work with conductors such as Paul Goodwin, Rossen Milanov, Ariel Zuckermann and Vladimir Fedosseyev. She also appeared in festivals, including Bad Kissingen Klavier Olympiade and Sommer Festspiele, Chopin Duszniki Festival, Schwetzingen Musik Festspiele, Mainz Music, and Verbier Festival.
