Southern Music Company is both a retail and wholesale distributor of music from over 500 publishers from around the world. In addition, we also publish the music of many world renowned composers, arrangers and editors. We publish over 5,000 educational and concert music works.
Southern Music Company was opened in downtown San Antonio in 1937 and moved to the 30,000 square-foot location at 1100 Broadway in 1950. On the first floor were the choral, vocal, piano/sheet music, and book departments. The second floor contained the band, instrumental, and orchestra departments, as well as the administrative offices. The third floor was devoted exclusively to Southern Music Company publications print and bindery operations. In May 2000, Southern Music Company moved to the present location at 1248 Austin Highway, Suite 212. The new Southern Music Company location is a larger, state-of-the-art retail and distribution center that enables us to offer our customers faster service and more convenience than ever! The new location is located in the rapidly expanding Northeast San Antonio business corridor. We occupy three floors in the Alamo Hills Plaza Shopping Center. Located across the street from the new Earl Abels Restaurant location and on the east end of the shopping center from Spectrum Health Club.
Southern Music Company services many festivals, contests, and clinics in San Antonio, in Texas and throughout the United States. We are especially proud of the many professional music organizations that we support both in membership and service. We invite you to visit our store while in San Antonio.
