Vintage Yamaha CS40M Analog Synthesizer
The Yamaha CS40M is a rare and powerful analog synthesizer that blends vintage warmth with modern flexibility. Released in the early 1980s, this dual-oscillator, 8-voice polyphonic synth is a standout from Yamaha's CS series, offering deep programmability and an unmistakably lush analog tone.
Built with true analog circuitry, the CS40M features two VCOs per voice with selectable waveforms, pulse-width modulation, noise generator, ring modulation, and a beautifully musical multimode filter (HP, BP, LP). Each voice has its own VCF and VCA, with comprehensive envelope and LFO modulation. Unique for its era, the CS40M includes patch memory-allowing users to store and instantly recall up to 20 of their own sounds, a rare feature for early analogs.
From rich brass tones and silky pads to aggressive leads and experimental textures, the CS40M is a sound designer's dream. Its tactile, hands-on interface and rock-solid build quality make it not only a joy to play but a reliable centerpiece in any studio or live rig.
This CS40M is in excellent condition considering its age. It has been tuned and recalibrated by our in house service department.
