Kawai's Hybrid Digital Pianos feature exclusive grand and upright hybrid actions, along with a true damper mechanism available on both models. These innovations create an authentic playing experience that closely mirrors an acoustic piano. In fact, if you were to play blindfolded, you might not realize it was a digital instrument until you noticed the power cord — a testament to the incredible attention to detail in crafting a true pianist experience.
At the heart of the NV10S is the Millennium III Hybrid Grand Piano Action, a design modeled after Kawai’s world-renowned acoustic grand actions. Instead of traditional felt hammers, individually weighted ABS hammers are used and carefully balanced from bass to treble for exceptional touch and response. Advanced optical sensors replace the metal strings, precisely capturing the subtle movement of each hammer to deliver a natural, expressive performance.
Similarly, the NV5S upright model features the Millennium Hybrid Upright Piano Keyboard Action, incorporating extended spruce key sticks and innovative ABS Carbon components. These materials are stronger, lighter, faster, and more stable than conventional wooden parts, providing durability and consistent performance over time.

In order to reproduce the stunning tonal qualities of the Shigeru Kawai concert grand piano digitally, Novus instruments incorporate Kawai’s latest SK-EX Rendering technology. This advanced piano sound engine combines the well-established process of sampling with the modern approach of physical modelling, to produce a piano sound that is both rich in natural acoustic character, and dynamically responsive to the player.
In addition to the SK-EX rendering piano soung engine, the NOVUS Series also incorporates Kawai's highly regarded Harmonic Imaging CL technology, like the Shigeru Kawai SK-5 Chamber grand and a Kawai K-60 Upright piano givng you unlimited capabilities to experiment with sound.
