This Taylor Custom Gold Label Super Auditorium is one of the very first guitars ever released under Taylor's prestigious Gold Label designation-and it shows. Designed collaboratively by Chris McKee and Cooper Greenberg, this instrument reflects a clear vision: focus on the finest materials, the highest-level construction techniques, and masterful acoustic performance rather than ornate decoration. The result is a powerfully expressive guitar with a huge, open voice and refined simplicity.
At the heart of this build is a premium Adirondack spruce top, paired with premium East Indian rosewood back and sides. This revered tonewood combination delivers exceptional headroom, rich overtone content, and a commanding low end-perfect for players who want clarity, dynamic range, and responsiveness in equal measure. Taylor's Adirondack Gold Label bracing, set with hot hide glue, maximizes tonal energy and ensures every note rings with depth and authority.
The appointments are understated yet undeniably classy. Maple binding, a maple mini wedge on the back, maple truss rod cover, and a maple single-ring rosette reinforce the natural aesthetic. Abalone 2.5mm dot inlays and a maple Taylor inlay add just the right touch of detail without distracting from the guitar's clean lines. A gloss finish highlights the beauty of the wood while maintaining an elegant, minimalist look.
Premium hardware choices elevate the performance:
Antique chrome Gotoh 510 tuners for ultra-smooth, precise tuning
Bone nut, saddle, and endpins for maximum resonance
Rosewood pickguard to complement the tonewood palette
LR Baggs VTC pickup for warm, professional-grade stage tone
Every element of this Custom Gold Label Super Auditorium was chosen to serve the sound-and it delivers. Expect a muscular low end, powerful projection, shimmering highs, and a wide, open soundscape that responds effortlessly to both light touch and aggressive strumming.
Simply adorned. Thoughtfully executed. Tonally exceptional.
This is a rare and early Taylor Custom Gold Label guitar built for players who value purity of design and the highest level of acoustic expression.
