Introduced in 1967, the C7 has been continuously produced in Yamaha's Hamamatsu, Japan factory. The C7 is the predecessor to the now redesigned Yamaha C7X Grand Piano. The C7 at a length of 7'6", is apart of the Yamaha Conservatory lineup, designed for concert venues, professional studios and serious musicians.
The Yamaha C7 is Built with a solid quarter‑sawn spruce soundboard plus full-length ribs, a V‑Pro cast-iron frame, spruce back-posts, and Yamaha’s renowned balanced action.
Celebrated as “the most‑recorded piano in history,” the C7 delivers strong projection, a clear attack, warm mid-tones, singing treble, and robust bass. Notable artist who chose the C7 as their piano to record have been Elton John, Chris Martin, Johnathan Cain, and even Prince!
This Piano has a legendary reputation pinning it with the label of a "studio standard" Piano.
The C7X NOW, introduced in 2008, includes lighter hammers, refined strings, a soundboard design inspired by the CFX and a richer "bloom" in the tone. In contrast , the classic C7 has a more direct attack and a more traditional tonal character sometimes perceived as a little brighter and more assertive in sound.
The C7 action is responsive and reliable, engineered for precision and nuance under demanding playing. This piano arrived to our store this week and has gone through our service, to correct a couple of keys, but overall has held strong against the usual wear and tear a piano with age might face. It is in great condition.
